Questions for NRCA’s CEO

What is the most important lesson you learned this year?

It’s not necessarily a lesson, but this year has been a strong reminder: the government giveth, and the government taketh. By that, I mean if the government is involved in something, it can be beneficial or harmful. Contractors involved with solar were excited and planning on the extended tax credits from the federal government; just as they were getting underway, the government ended the tax credits. That extends to H-2B visas, immigration policy changes and tax certainty. Our industry is intrinsically affected by government policy—good and bad. This year reinforced for me that we need to continue to strongly advocate for our needs and perspectives to try to get more of the good and limit the bad.

What is one good thing you see for the roofing industry in 2026?

Our people. They are the backbone of the industry. As I visit contractors and see people solving problems daily, I’m confident this industry can navigate through any obstacles it faces.
